Why These Humor Pages Appear on my Web Site

With over 500 pages of information already on my site, why would I bother to add a bunch of jokes and “fun stuff”? After all, most of these have been sent to me in emails, and surely if I’ve gotten them—in many cases, more than once—then my site visitors must have seen them as well.

As I state on my Policy Page: “I decided, years ago, NOT to pass on information in batch forwards, no matter how bad my luck is supposed to get if I don’t. If I see or receive something I like, something that feels consistent with the mission of this Web site, I will post it somewhere on these pages.” Well that “somewhere” turned out to be this section of the site.

And since the mission of this site includes “providing practical, helpful and meaningful information–as well as inspiration, encouragement and hope–in areas related to relationship building, effective instruction and guidance, and personal development in order to better serve those whose goals include improving their own lives as well as the lives of children and other adults,” and since anything that brings a smile, chuckle or “aha!” might qualify as “service” in its own way, I decided to include this section and these pages.

I think this material adds a bit of balance and lightness to this site, and have been delighted when people have found their way here and reported back with positive feedback.

Of course I will continue to add free articles and handouts, as well as links to relevant sites, resources and services, information about my schedule and workshops, updated blogs and biographical information, and navigational aids, but as I come across something that strikes me as funny, inspiring or just plain interesting (but not particularly applicable within the scope of this site), you can look forward to seeing it here.

As with the rest of the information on this site, if you see something you like or would like to share, help yourself. Unlike material I have created, no attribution to me is necessary, though if a source of the actual material is mentioned (not who sent it to me, but who created it), please include that information, for karma’s sake.
