Recomended Reading

by Jane Bluestein, Ph.D.

The books listed in this section include resources that were referenced in the text of the third edition of 21st Century Discipline (Thousand Oaks, CA: Corwin/Sage Publishing, 2007) as well as materials on related topics. I have tried to include a wide range of resources (and viewpoints) for educators, counselors, administrators and other school staff, not only for their own professional development, but for use with or by students as well. While the majority of the titles were published fairly recently, I make no apologies for the oldies-but-goodies I’ve included. They are a part of my own history, a part of what shaped the content of this book and generally as relevant now as they were when they were written.

The titles are loosely grouped into categories. (Many items include a range of content that could be classified in several different categories.) Because Web addresses change as frequently as they do, I have not included many in this book (other than a few footnotes to reference specific content). Please check my Web site for links to sites with information and resources relevant to topics discussed in 21st Century Discipline.

In addition to these resources, the entire bibliography from the 2001 publication, Creating Emotionally Safe Schools, with more than 1000 references, is also available on this site.
