Fighting for a Cure Fundraising Letter
Written for 1993 Pine Tree Tennis Classic, largest non-celebrity
tennis tournament in the U.S.
Dear Friend,
This is a year of sweeping change in America, a time of new leadership
and new beginnings. We’ve been newly-challenged to make a
difference in the lives of children and you can rise to that challenge
by contributing to the 1993 Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic
Aug. 13-15.
For the past seven years, this top rated mixed-doubles tennis tournament
has offered great tennis, food, and fun to raise money for the Children’s
Hospital of St. Paul’s Pediatric Research Fund to battle childhood
cancers. The Classic completely funds this vital program
and over $520,000 has been raised since the tournament began. In
1992, $121,000 was donated with 76 cents of every dollar going directly
to research.
Thanks to the Classic, every year another step is taken
toward a cure. When we accept the challenge to fight for those cures
together, little faces shine bright with hope and families are given
a chance to share more precious years together. Your help truly
does make a difference.
Over the years, the number of enthusiastic and dedicated Classic
sponsors, players, volunteers, and spectators has steadily grown.
The more we come together and give of our dollars and time, the
more progress we can make toward a cure. Help put a smile back on
the face of a child with cancer and give those families hope for
a brighter tomorrow.
Won’t you join us in this vital work? Take a few moments
from your busy day and let the spirit of sharing and caring guide
you to select a Sponsorship Option in the enclosed brochure. Then
return the form with a check made payable to the “Pine Tree
Apple Tennis Classic” by June 25.
We look forward to you accepting the challenge to help children
with cancer. Rise to the occasion today and make a difference in
the lives of those children. Let’s make it the best year ever
for the Classic as we all help fight for a cure together.
With Thanks For Your Generosity,
Dave & Sandy Sorenson
