This program explores the power of language to influence our sense of control in our lives, sharing ways to avoid talking to children with words and expressions that can rob them of their sense of responsibility, limit their ability to see how their choices impact what happens to them, and believe in their capacity to improve their lives. The program offers practical strategies for avoiding power struggles and heavy-handed, authoritarian approaches to motivation, all the while helping to build choice-making skills in kids of all ages.
