Character Counts
Building Relationships that Build Character
Presentation by Jane Bluestein, Ph.D.
It’s one thing to expect or demand certain desirable character traits in kids—and another to create an environment in which these behaviors are likely to emerge!
Much of the development of character happens within the context of relationships with others and this program examines the characteristics of adult-child relationships that encourage desirable behaviors, values and skills in kids of all ages.
We’ll look at control and identity issues, setting and maintaining bounaries, supporting vs. enabling, motivation and follow through, problem solving, self-care and ways to avoid building dependence on adult or peer approval.
For anyone who lives or works with kids!
